World leaders will meet in Geneva Saturday to talk about the crisis in Syria, but few observers expect a breakthrough.

Syria has the protection of Russia, a veto-wielding member of the UN Security Council, which has so far stood up to international pressure. Tensions are also building between Syria and neighboring Turkey, which is beefing up defenses on the border after Syria shot down a Turkish jet last week.
