Everyone from 8-year-old fans to the metal band Linkin Park and even Jimmy Fallon have covered it– we’re talking about British singer-songwriter Adele‘s “Rolling In The Deep.”
What is it about the singer?
Maura Johnston, music critic of the Village Voice says that Adele is very relatable.
“People are looking for a connection when they listen to music, people are looking for something that they can latch on to. And the nature of her voice and the nature of the lyrics just combine into this package that a lot of people, they feel it, they feel their emotions being tugged or their memories being tripped,” she told Here & Now‘s Robin Young.
Adele is up for is up for six Grammy awards including Record of the Year and Album of the Year. Her CD “21″ was the best selling album of 2011 and singles like “Rolling in the Deep” stayed at the top of the charts for weeks, and her appearance at this Sunday’s Grammy Awards has been highly anticipated after Adele had to cancel a series of concerts last fall to undergo vocal chord surgery.
