Floods across the South have killed at least five people in Louisiana, Texas and Oklahoma. The deluge began earlier this week, and heavy rain is set to continue pounding the region today.

More than 20 inches of rain has already fallen in some locations, according to The Weather Channel. In all, some areas expect to receive two feet of rain by the time the storm winds down today.

To discuss what is being called historic flash flooding, Here & Now‘s Meghna Chakrabarti speaks with Kate Archer Kent, news producer at Red River Radio in the hard-hit city of Shreveport, Louisiana.
