Two African-American community leaders organized a gathering for minorities and immigrants in Des Moines the other night. The purpose was a training session on how to caucus, but the evening also featured an expression of frustration over the lack of attention the candidates have paid to their communities. Here & Now’s Robin Young reports from the event.

Guests

  • Ako Abdul-Samad, an Iowa state representative and founder of Creative Visions, a community organization in Des Moines. He tweets @akoabdulsamad.
  • Wayne Ford, co-founder of the Iowa Black and Brown Forum, which brings candidates together to address issues facing people of color.
