Designer Says El Chapo’s ‘Fantasy’ Shirt Is Flying Off Shelves

A shirt known as "Fantasy," a replica of the shirt worn by Mexican drug-lord Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman is prominently displayed for sale at Barabas, a retail shop in the city's Fashion District in Los Angeles, California on January 13, 2016. No one would have called Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman a fashion icon when photos of his arrest last week showed the recaptured capo in a smeared, dirty undershirt. But one Los Angeles retailer is cashing in on an altogether more dapper depiction of the kingpin, in a newly iconic snapshot with Sean Penn. (Frederic J. Brown/AFP/Getty Images)

The shirt that drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman was photographed wearing in his meeting with Sean Penn can be described as blue, striped and loud. And now it’s in high demand, according to the shirt’s designer. Meanwhile, actor Sean Penn disputes accusations that his interview with Guzman led to the capture.
