The timing of meals influence is an interesting new wrinkle, but your correspondent injects a serious myth toward the end.  The “calories in-calories out correlation” is nonsense; the notion is thoroughly debunked by Gary Taubes in Why We Get Fat, based on a lot of evidence that undermines this fallacious concept.
