New York district court judge Edward Korman has ruled that Plan B One-step, commonly called the morning-after pill, be made available over the pharmacy counter to anyone who wants it.

Currently Plan B is available behind the counter to anyone over 17 and to those younger than that only by prescription. Abortion rights advocates had challenged Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius for making a controversial decision two years ago to continue prescription-only access for those under 16, overruling a recommendation from the Food and Drug Administration.
