Scandals Cloud BBC Anniversary

The BBC is marking its 90th birthday today, but the venerable broadcasting network is also being buffeted by two scandals.

One involves the BBC’s handling of sex abuse allegations against one of its most popular hosts, the late Jimmy Saville. The other involves a program that aired last week that wrongly accused a former British lawmaker of sex abuse.

The BBC’s director general has resigned and an acting director general has been appointed to clean up the mess.

Guest:

  • Michael Goldfarb, author and journalist based in London. He has been a freelance BBC reporter and host since 1986.
