Tax Tips: An Extra Weekend to File, But Several Credits Expiring

Thanks to a holiday in DC on Friday the 15th, tax returns are due on the 18th of April. But even with an extra weekend, it’s not too early to start thinking about tax forms.

Tax breaks on unemployment benefits are expiring, and for people who don’t itemize, three temporary standard deductions–for property taxes, taxes paid for new car purchases, and disaster losses–are gone.
