President Obama Announces Iraq Exit Plan

President Obama is visiting Camp Lejeune today where he will announce a plan to withdraw combat troops from Iraq. We’ll have the latest from Julian E. Barnes, Pentagon Correspondent for the Los Angeles Times.

President Obama’s father gave him a basketball when he was ten and since then his love of pick-up basketball has grown. We speak with Alex Wolf, senior writer for Sports Illustrated, about his recent article “The Audacity of Hoops.” We also hear from Claude Johnson, he founded the website baller-in-chief.com.

FDR, The College Years

Franklin Delano Roosevelt went to Harvard University from 1900-1904, but the school’s only memorial to him is a plaque in the rooms that he used to occupy. Now, a group at Harvard seeks to restore those rooms to their 1900 condition as a memorial to the 32nd president. We tour FDR’s former suite with Michael Weishan, president of the FDR Suite Foundation, Inc. and historian Doris Kearns Goodwin.

Okemah, Okla., is the birthplace of folk legend Woody Guthrie. It’s also the hometown of singer-songwriter John Fullbright, who at just 24, is already being compared with folk great Townes Van Zandt.
